When we first started the plastic business in 1987, our focus was on the distribution side of the Industry. Stocking the engineered plastics in sheet, rod, and tube form and then cutting and/or shipping out the same day. Well as time has passed and our customers needs have evolved so to has Alro Plastics.

Over the past 20 years Alro Plastics has accumulated a vast array of value added processing capabilities. From the basic request of cut to size pieces to the complex request for finished parts per print, Alro has your needs covered.

CNC Saw Cutting

All four Alro Plastic locations have the ability to cut to size utilizing CNC Saws. Between our three Schelling CNC Production Saws, the SCM Galaxy 160 Saw, and multiple Hendricks CNC Saws, Alro Plastics has the saw to meet your most demanding requirements. These state-of-the-art saws can cut up to 7 ” thick and up to 14 feet long, and are designed for large production runs. In most cases we have the ability to cut to size and ship them out the same day you order it.

With the addition of ISO 9001:2000 certification and our internal quality structure, we also have a stringent Q.C. process to ensure you get exactly what you order. Alro performs first article of inspection as well as in-process Q.C.’s throughout the entire run of your job. And as if that is not enough, we also perform a final inspection during the shipping process.

Schelling CNC Production Saw

Rod Saw Cutting

Alro Plastic stocks the majority of our plastics in round or rod stock as well. Alro Plastic stocks rods in various lengths and diameters, up to 16 diameter rod. We also have the ability to cut rod / round stock to your desired size.

Our Amada Horizontal Band Saws are capable of cutting rod up to 16 diameter, quickly and accurately. Alro Plastic stocks UHMW, Nylon and Nylatron in 16 diameter for quick turn around on cut orders. We also have the Omga Cross Cut Saw that is capable of cutting smaller diameter rods into thousands of pieces in a matter of minutes. Between these two saws we feel we have both ends of the rod cutting spectrum covered. Fiberglass Saw Cutting

Alro Plastics not only offers the Fiberglass grating product line, we also can cut it to your required size and reseal the cut ends for longer life. Alro Plastics uses a Hendricks Pro-V saw equipped with a special diamond tooth blade in an isolated room with its own dust collection and ventilation system. By keeping the fiberglass cutting separate from our other products, we are able to keep the fiberglass dust from contaminating our engineered plastic stock and more importantly provide a safe work environment for our employees.

CNC Routing & Machining

Alro Plastics has purchased multiple CNC Routers for your more complicated per print fabrication projects. Our Heian Single Table CNC Router has a table size of 62 x 102 and the ability to hold up to 2 cutters and 5 drill bits. The Single Table Router is ideal for small to medium run jobs with minimal set-up and run time. Our Heian Twin Table CNC Router, built for large production jobs, is an excellent compliment to the Single Table Router. The Twin Table Router has a table size of 84 x 126 when locked together, ideal for machining large parts up to 10 feet long. The Twin Table Router also gives us the ability to split the table in two halves, each table being 63 x 84 , and run one table while setting up the material on the other table for the next run. The Twin Table Router will hold up to 16 tools at one time, giving Alro the ability to do multiple steps in one set-up. We also have purchased a MultiCam Single Table CNC Router. The MultiCam CNC Router will hold up to 16 tools at one time, giving Alro the ability to do multiple steps in one set-up. The MultiCam Router is capable of extremely high speeds and feeds, ideal for machining thin gage Acrylic and Polycarbonate. We can machine material up to 4 thick on all three of our CNC routers and supply you finished parts in 2 weeks or less in most cases.

Another thing that enables Alro Plastic to be competitive on fabrication jobs is our part nesting software. With our large router tables and the nesting software, Alro is able to load a full sheet on the routers and fully maximize the sheet yield. By utilizing the size of our tables, we can eliminate the step of cutting up smaller material blanks and machining them one at a time.

CAD/CAM

Alro utilizes the most current CAM software creating a direct link from print to machine. Alro has also purchased multiple CAD software packages to make it easier on our customers to send us prints via e-mail. A few of the packages we use are Procam, Mastercam, and AutoCad 2002 LT. By having these different software packages we are able to read just about any print e-mailed to us. If you are interested in e-mailing us a print to quote or a print for a job you would like us to run, send it to plastics@alro.com ,and please include any important information. The file formats we are able to accept are .DWG, .DXF, and .IGES. If you would like more info or have another file format you would like to see if we can accept, please call us and ask.

CMM Articulating Arm (Coordinate Measuring Machine)

What good is close tolerance CNC machining equipment if you do not have the ability to inspect it? Alro not only invested in the CNC equipment, we also purchased a CMM Articulating Arm. The new Titanium Faro Arm gives us the ability to measure parts up to 10 foot long with an accuracy of+/_.002”. We are able to measure arcs, radii, and compound angles with no problem at all.

Tired of paying OEM prices on replacement parts, but don’t have a print for us to quote? No problem, with the Faro Titanium Arm we are also able to create a print from a customer supplied sample part. Just submit a sample to one of our Outside Sales Reps or UPS it to us. We’ll supply you with a competitive quote that will meet or exceed your delivery requirements.

Plastic Fabrication

Alro Plastics has taken the plunge into Plastic Fabrication and Assembly. We have invested in some heat benders, press brakes, and other forming equipment to enable us to make bent guards, p.o.p. displays, and other misc items. We are adept at welding various plastic materials such as Acrylic, Polycarbonate, PETG, PVC, HDPE, Polypropylene, PVDF and a few others.

We purchased a 4 foot heat bender, 8 foot heat bender, 4 foot press brake, multiple drill presses, hand routers, and other secondary tooling to enable us to make just about anything. We also have the ability to flame polish edges and have even gotten into plastic welding. With all this new equipment along with the years of experience of our people, there is no limit to what we can do.
