CleanCut®
20
is sold as a Hot-Rolled, resulphurized plate steel produced especially
for its fine machining characteristics. Usually found with a Hot-Rolled
finish, it is also inventoried as a pre-ground DeCarb Free product.
Typical Top and Bottom tolerances are +.015/.035. This low carbon
steel may be cut with feeds approximately 100 to 200% greater
than those used for SAE 1020 plate. The carbon contents of this
grade are such that wear resistance might be improved by carburizing.
Sulphur added to this steel forms manganese sulfides, and gives
free-machining qualities.
C1119
is an ideal grade for many applications requiring extensive machining
and smooth surface finish. It may be flame hardened to locally
improve surface properties. Improved machining characteristics
reduce machining costs and residual stresses, while improving
surface finish in comparison to ordinary grades.
