08/30/01--Alro Steel is the presenting sponsor for the 2001 Jackson Walk to Cure Diabetes on September 15 in Jackson, Michigan. The Jackson Walk will seek to raise $350,000 with over 50 Alro employees expected to participate. Al Glick, Alro Chairman & CEO, and Carl Glick, Alro Vice President, are serving as 2001 Corporate Recruitment Chairs.

"We are proud to be involved with this event and are grateful to the many Alro employees who will participate to help raise awareness for diabetes research," said Al Glick.

Jackson, MI--Alro Plastics has officially opened its new headquarters located at 2218 Enterprise in Jackson, Michigan.

The new facility features:

Approximately 40,000 square feet (an additional 22,000 square feet over the former facility)
Heian Twin-table Production CNC Router & a Heian Single-Table CNC Router for reduced lead times and greater flexibility.
Racking systems for new product lines including:
- Ertalyte TX
- APET Sheet

Ford Presents Alro Steel with Q1 Supplier Award

Jackson, MI--Ford Motor Company has recognized Alro Steel Corporation as a Q1 supplier. This prestigious honor represents Ford's highest commendation to its suppliers and is used to identify "preferred" sources for current and future supply opportunities.

Kathleen Wolfe of Ford Motor Company presents Alro team members with the Q1 Award.

Alro Acquires James H. Kurtz Steel Company

Jackson, MI-Alro Steel Corporation is pleased to announce it has acquired certain assets of the James H. Kurtz Steel Company located in Detroit, Michigan.

The new entity, named Alro Kurtz Steel, will continue to supply traditional Kurtz Steel products such as tool steels (including KPM Super Square Flats), alloys, drill rod, flat ground, and cold finished bar in addition to Alro's full range of products & processing services.

David Maxwell has been named General Manager of the new facility.

Alro Acquires Ohio Metal & Mfg. Co. of Dayton

Jackson, Michigan-Alro Steel Corporation has announced the acquisition of Ohio Metal & Mfg. Co. of Dayton.

Specializing in a broad inventory of metal products including aluminum, brass & copper, galvanized steel and many other industrial supplies, Ohio Metal & Mfg. Co. has served the Dayton area for over 80 years.

"Ohio Metals has long established itself as an excellent company whose business philosophy closely parallels Alro," said Alvin Glick, chairman and CEO of Alro Steel Corporation. "By merging the metal inventories of Ohio Metal and our local Dayton facility, we hope to increase our presence in the Dayton area while continuing to support the many loyal area customers."

Alro Acquires Masco St. Louis (MO) &
Technical Steels of Tulsa (OK)

Jackson, Michigan-Alro Steel Corporation has announced the acquisition of two companies- Masco St. Louis (St. Louis, MO) and Technical Steels (Tulsa, OK). The new entities will be named Alro Masco and Alro Technical Steels respectively.

Both companies offer extensive specialty metal inventories including tool steel, alloys, cold finished bar, flat ground, drill rod and die components.

"We are pleased to welcome these dynamic companies to our organization," said Al Glick, chairman and CEO of Alro Steel Corporation. "Both represent excellent operations and we are excited to have further enhanced our national distribution presence with this merger."

Alro Announces Management Changes

Jackson, Michigan-Alro Steel Corporation is pleased to announce the following promotions in its executive leadership:

Randy Maitland has been named Vice President and General Manager of Michigan Full Line Steel Locations. Maitland previously served as regional manager.
Mark Timberlake has been promoted to Vice President and General Manager of the Mid-States Full Line Steel Locations. Timberlake was previously general manager of the Alro Indianapolis facility.
Dick Hoogerwerf has been named Vice President and General Manager of Alro's Specialty Metals Division. Hoogerwerf was previously vice president of corporate sales.
Dean Davis has been named Vice President and General Manager of Alro's Plastics Division. Davis was formerly general manager of the plastics division.

"These individuals have provided outstanding leadership at Alro and we are pleased to recognize their efforts," said Al Glick, chairman and CEO of Alro Steel Corporation.
