Dura-Bar G2 Gray Iron is a "pearlitic gray iron" that contains Type A graphite. Dura-Bar G2 is made through a continuous cast process. It is built around the ASTM A48 Class 40 gray iron which is validated from a separately cast bar. Gray iron bars made to this specification will have optimal strength, wear, and hardness when compared to the other gray iron grades. This material is well suited for applications requiring high resistance to wear and response to heat treatment.
It is part of the Dura-Bar family of engineered cast iron bar products which are all designed to offer the best combination of machinability, sliding wear resistance, heat treat response, noise and vibration damping and guaranteed mechanical properties when compared to most other as-rolled ferrous materials.
