Drilling and Tapping

In addition to our CNC equipment, Alro Plastics also has a lot of secondary equipment to handle smaller operations. One of the value added services we offer is drilling and tapping. Drilling and tapping plastics is very similar to the process used for woods and metals.

The main difference when drilling plastics is with the drill bits, they typically have sharper points and different rake angles than typical drill bits. By using drill bits designed for plastic use, we are able to create a cleaner drill hole with less stress to the material. We also have the ability to tap the holes, which is essentially just adding threads to the pre-drilled holes. Just let us know the what size screws you plan on using and where the holes need to be placed and Alro Plastics can do the rest.
