Out of all the unfilled plastics available today Duratron® CU60 PBI is the highest performance engineering thermoplastic. It offers the highest heat resistance and mechanical property retention over 400°F of any unfilled plastic. In addition, it has better wear resistance and load carrying capabilities at extreme temperatures than any other engineering plastic either reinforced or unreinforced. Duratron® CU60 PBI is very "clean" in terms of ionic impurity. It does not outgas (except water).
Duratron® CU60 PBI is a PBI (Polybenzimidazole) high performance engineering plastic that is ideal for extreme temperature applications. It has unique features that make it ideal for vacuum chamber applications in semiconductor manufacturing, thermal insulators. It is also typically used to make probe tip lenses in ultrasonic measuring equipment because it has excellent ultrasonic transparency. Other plastics in melt will not stick to CU60 so it is ideal as a contact seal or insulator bushing in the production of other plastics or molding equipment.
