Alro invested in the future of manufacturing and skilled trades with a donation from the Alro Steel Foundation to the Roanoke County Career and Technical Center. The funds will be allocated toward new equipment, materials, and supplies for the Welding and Motorsports Programs. The Center is expected to be completed in 2026. It will replace the current vocational school, which opened in 1962.
Alro participated in the SparkForce Manufacturing Inclusion Camp, part of Virginia’s Salem City Schools Forge the Future Program. The camp offers people with special needs and disabilities a pathway into manufacturing careers. Over four weeks, students split their time between classroom instruction and on-site training, building both technical skills and job-readiness. SparkForce is the charitable foundation of the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association (FMA).
