Alro is stocking 15-5 PH stainless steel rounds from 1/2" to 4", certified to ESR Type 2, Condition A, ASTM A564/A484, AMS 5659. 15-5 PH is a precipitation hardened, martensitic stainless steel that works well in applications requiring a combination of high transverse strength, corrosion resistance, and toughness. 

15-5 PH is easy to fabricate and widely used in aerospace, automotive, energy, and food processing industries for gears, shafts, valves, fasteners, and engine components.

Alro Steel Pittsburgh Completes Expansion

Alro Steel is pleased to announce the expansion of our Pittsburgh location at 140 Solar Drive, Imperial, PA. The 185,000 square foot metals service center has doubled in size to allow Alro to provide customers in Pennsylvania with cut-to-size metals and next-day delivery. 

The Pittsburgh location has ample storage space for a wide range of metals, including aluminum, alloys, carbon steel, stainless steel, tool steel, red metals, and more. Shapes include bar, sheet, plate, pipe, tube, and large structural shapes. The facility has multiple saws for bar, structural, and precision cutting, with quick access to a wide variety of additional processing services such as plate laser, tube laser, oxy-fuel and plasma cutting, waterjet, and more.

NSF 61 Compliant PVC Rod Type 1 for Drinking Water Systems

Alro Plastics offers PVC Type 1 rod specifically listed as NSF 61 compliant, certifying it for safe use in drinking water systems. This certification means the material is independently verified by NSF International to not leach harmful contaminants into potable water, a critical distinction as not all PVC Type 1 bar holds this listing.

General features of PVC Type 1 are high chemical resistance and good mechanical strength, while being easy to machine and form. It is typically used for pump and valve components, impellers, shafts, and other parts where corrosion can be a concern.

SparkForce Impact on Industry Award

SparkForce, the FMA Foundation, presented Alro Steel with the 'Impact on Industry' award for its philanthropic spirit, strategic investments, and people-first culture, exemplifying what it means to be a true partner in workforce development. In addition, Anthony Barnes, General Manager for Alro Steel Niles, was nominated for the 'Power of Industry' award for his work with schools in Virginia. The awards were presented on October 23, 2025.

SparkForce is the charitable foundation of the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association (FMA).  Their mission is to attract the next generation of manufacturing workers through programs like scholarships, summer manufacturing camps, and inclusion camps for individuals with disabilities. Its mission is to spark young people's interest in manufacturing careers and address the industry's labor shortage by engaging, nurturing, and exciting people about careers in modern manufacturing.
